The Limo Agent: Photo Instructions

Thank you for choosing The Limo Agent. We specialize in Pre-Owned Limousine sales, and we look forward to helping you find a qualified buyer for your vehicle. With your best interests in mind, please follow the guidelines below when providing photos of your vehicle. Quality photos are essential in convincing potential buyers that your unit is one that they should consider purchasing. Through years of experience, we have learned that quality photos help maximize the possibility of a sale, whereas poor photos literally all but eliminate any chance of a sale. Please understand that a large percentage of buyers may never see the vehicle in person, and must rely solely on the photos you provide.

Photo Guidelines

  1. Please ensure that your vehicle looks its best (i.e. washed and vacuumed) prior to taking photos. Dirt, brake dust, scuffed tires, tangled seat belts, and even lint on the carpet really stand out in photos, can distract from the virtues of the vehicle, and can even give the impression of poor maintenance. Present your car to the camera, as you would a potential buyer or client. Remember, you are trying to sell your vehicle… you want it to look as nice as possible.

  2. Try to keep background clutter to a minimum. Viewing photos is quite different than viewing a car in person. Background clutter (i.e. other cars, shelves in a garage, etc.) can distract from the subject of the photo… your vehicle.

  3. Try to take pictures outdoors in the daylight. Preferably between 11 am and 3 pm when the sun is overhead, helping to reduce shadows. Cloudy and overcast days are in fact good days for taking photos, as sometimes bright sunlight is actually less desirable due to the glare.

  4. Make certain to frame the picture properly. If you are taking an angle that is supposed to be of the whole car… make sure the whole car is actually in the frame. Allow a little extra space in the frame around the vehicle to be safe. Pictures that crop off the rear bumper or show only ¾ of the car are not very desirable (except of course, the intended close up shots).

  5. Position the vehicle in an area that allows you to walk completely around the vehicle as much as 20 feet from the vehicle all the way around it. This will give you the ability to get the angles you need and reduce background clutter.

  6. Please see the photo samples below for examples of the angles you should provide. Ideally, these should be as follows; Overall views of the car from 10 to 20 feet away (as close as possible, but as far away as it takes to get the whole car in the frame), plus close ups of each panel including the hood, trunk, and roof. Interior shots should include door panels, door jambs, trunk and engine compartments, and of course the front and rear interior of the vehicle. The samples below are reduced in size to fit on one page… we of course need full size photos from you.

  7. Please provide close ups of any damage, dings, dents, scratches, rust, etc, as well as anything you would like to highlight, such as custom features, new tires, parts, or components, or anything you feel is a selling feature.

  8. Don´t worry about taking too many photos. You should have at least 20 and even up to 50 or more photos when done. Try to keep the file size of each photo reasonable (640 x 480 resolution is fine). Photos whose files sizes are too big (500KB or more) are unnecessarily large, and will need to be resized. Check your owner´s manual to change your camera settings if necessary.

Submit Your Photos

Email your photos to john@thelimoagent.com. Total file size of email attachments should not exceed 5MB. If so, please split your photos into several smaller emails and send separately.

If you have any questions concerning the photos, the listing, or our service, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thanks again, and good luck!

Photo Samples

The photos below should provide you with a good idea of what we are looking for. These photos show overall views of each side of the unit, keeping the entire vehicle in the frame of the photo. Additionally, there are close ups of each panel to show better detail, as the overall photos may not show the presence or absence of smaller blemishes. Photos of the inside of each door trim panel, the door jambs, driver's compartment, engine compartment and the trunk are also helpful.

*Please note, your photos should be a minimum resolution of 640x480 pixels. The file size of your photos should be in the 50KB to 100KB ballpark per photo, and really do not need to be much larger than 500KB per photo. This will make it easy for you to email. Very large file sizes - 1MB or more - will take a very long time to email.

Please DO NOT send emails that exceed 5MB in total file size. If necessary, simply send your photos in multiple emails to reduce download times.
